Led light

Sir: I read with interest your annual Green Issue and we were delighted to be mentioned for our own small contribution (‘RH Amar makes the switch to LED lighting,’ p8).

Indeed, I would like to congratulate you on your Switch the Lights campaign, which was a constant reminder that change was needed and served as our inspiration.

The initiative has now fed into our wider Green Policy and, having completed the switch to LED lighting in our offices, we now plan to do the same to our warehousing in 2016. It’s an investment on our part, but has brought far better lighting and will pay dividends in a short time, both financially and environmentally.

This is of paramount importance to us as a business as we are constantly looking to see how we can make a difference throughout our supply chain, from field to fork. As a distributor of more than 40 fantastic fine food brands from around the world - including Crespo olives, Mutti tomatoes and our company-owned Mary Berry’s range of sauces, salad dressings and condiments - we are keen to make a difference, which is why our Green Policy covers considerations along the entire food chain, from how foods are harvested to how we deliver our products to retailers, wholesalers and foodservice outlets throughout the UK.

Like all responsible businesses, we take this commitment seriously, but it never hurts for a fine magazine like yours to remind us of what can be achieved, and to celebrate those who achieve it.

Tim Brady, operations director, RH Amar
