We wish to raise our concerns that moves to extend the zone to include Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster, south of Harrow Road would have a great effect on small retailers who operate within and around the vicinity of the Congestion Charge zone.

The charge is already costing our members a significant amount of bottom line profits via this new tax.
Further increases in the scope of the charge will only erode profitability further.

Extension of the charge zone will drive good, small businesses out of London, leaving the city of London a business desert.

We do understand that congestion charging has reduced traffic levels within the centre of London.

But we feel that the mayor should consult with businesses before extending the zone, in order to ensure that small businesses are not penalised by such measures.
