Sir, I was interested as always to read your Power List but surprised and disappointed that the list contained only nine women ('Power 100', The Grocer, 21 May).

It is not my experience that a mere 9% of the most powerful people in the grocery industry are women. In the Fairtrade sector, in which I am involved, women are, if anything, over-represented and have a huge influence on the industry as a whole.

To name but two under Harriet Lamb's leadership, UK Fairtrade sales have moved from a niche sector to a category worth £1bn per year; Sophi Tranchell's tenure at farmer-owned Divine Chocolate has seen the brand grow to sales of £12m, not to mention catalyse a shift of chocolate's biggest UK brands to Fairtrade.
