Organic kiwifruit has a higher vitamin content than conventionally grown fruit, according to a study carried out by The University of California.

The study, which was conducted on an organic and conventional crop grown on neighbouring plots, revealed that both crops had identical acidity and sugar levels. However, the main mineral constituents were more concentrated in the organic kiwifruit, which also had higher vitamin C and total polyphenol content, resulting in higher antioxidant activity.

Antioxidants are thought to eliminate free radicals, which can cause cancer.
