Tesco is expanding its Finest wine range with new lines including a ”stunning” single-vineyard shiraz.

Consumer demand for a wider variety of wine had prompted the launch of lines including a Valdabbiadene Prosecco (rsp: £14.99), Cobblestone Shiraz (rsp: £15.99) and Slovenian Riesling 2013 (rsp: £7.99), said the retailer.

“The wine team is constantly on the lookout for new and exciting wines to add to the Finest range – the secret of our success is working closely with winemakers to source the best quality wines possible, as well as listening to our customers to understand exactly what they like to drink,” said Laura Jewell MW, category product development manager at Tesco.

Completing the new line-up are a St Chinian 2013 (rsp: £8.99), Domaine Aubersmenil Fitou 2012 (rsp: £7.99), Font Bonnet Médoc 2012 (rsp: £8.99) and Grechetto 2013 (rsp: £6.99).

“From a stunning single vineyard Shiraz from our friends at Howard Park in Western Australia to the lesser known Grechetto from Italy, each one has been carefully selected to offer something special for the customer,” added Jewell.

The retailer won the IWC Own Label Range of the Year award this week, and was named the IWC Direct Merchant of the Year for Tesco Wine by the Case.  The IWC is run by William Reed Business Media, publisher of The Grocer.
