First Milk has landed a 2p per litre price increase from major cheese manufacturer A McLelland and Son from the beginning of October.

John Duncan, chief executive of the farmer co-operative, said: “We have set out a clear case this autumn that milk prices should rise by 2ppl across the total range of British dairy products.

“We urge other cheese manufacturers to follow this lead and the multiples to recognise the increase in underlying milk prices when buying not only cheese but all dairy products.”
