Kerry Foods has promoted Ian Garrett to the role of sales director, convenience, as it continues its efforts to help retailers grow chilled foods sales within the channel.
Garrett moves into his new position after three years as sales controller, convenience, having joined the supplier in 2006 and filled a number of roles in sales and logistics.
His appointment coincides with the launch of the next phase of Kerry’s Building a Nation of Chilled Experts programme, which aims to help independent and convenience retailers realise a £6bn chilled sales opportunity by 2018.
Now is an exciting time for chilled within the convenience channel, said Garrett. “With our manufacturing expertise, a portfolio of fantastic brands and best in class category expertise, we are perfectly placed to help retailers realise a huge sales opportunity within chilled and frozen,” he added.
The chilled category is set to grow organically in convenience by more than £700m by 2018, he claimed. “If we can bring retailers on the journey to help them reach the next level of chilled sales excellence, then that could grow by another £1.5bn.”
Kerry’s UK MD, Bob Carnell, praised Garrett for his “wealth of experience” that will see him being responsible for leading the sales team “to deliver ambitious customer and channel strategies across wholesale and convenience”.
