The Co-operative Group has named Jason McEwen as head of portfolio, programmes and project delivery.

In a new role for the society, McEwen will be responsible for leading all construction, refurbishment and retrofit projects.

He is promoted from the role of national investment delivery lead, which he has held since November 2012. Prior to that, he worked as a management consultant at EY.

”The Co-op Group is undertaking a significant programme of refits and refurbishments across its food trading estate as part of its vision to be the best local retailer in the UK, as well as in other business areas,” said The Co-op’s group director of estates services, David Roberts.”I am confident his knowledge and experience of programme management will ensure its continued success.”

McEwen’s promotion is the second big property move for The Co-op in a matter of weeks. Earlier this month, it revealed Tesco’s property director for China, Robert Bignold, had joined in the new role of head of acquisitions and new store development.
