Burton’s Biscuit Company has appointed Topps executive Stephen Carson to the new role of international business development director.
Carson - previously general manager, international confectionery, at The Topps Company - joined Burton’s last month. As part of his new role, he has a seat on the Burton’s board.
The maker of Maryland cookies and Cadbury biscuits said the appointment reflected its growing focus on building its international footprint. “Stephen is a vital appointment as we accelerate our international expansion programme and look to capitalise on significant opportunities in the $48bn global biscuit category,” said CEO Ben Clarke. Last September, Burton’s said international sales had grown at a compound annual growth rate of 7%.
In addition to his experience at Topps, Carson has held leadership roles at home and abroad at Bazooka Candy Brands International, P&G and Gillette.
Last week, The Grocer revealed Burton’s had appointed Tim Walker as its new director of planning and procurement. He replaced Gary Williams, who has left to run his own consultancy.
