Sugro UK has appointed Ross Gourlay as chairman.
Gourlay, managing director of Glencrest of Glasgow, was voted in to replace Peter Youings of Youings Wholesale, Barnstaple, who has completed his three-year term of duty.
“I am pleased that Sugro achieved double-digit growth each year over the period,” said Youings.
“I am particularly proud of the increase in Retail Club members to over 2,000 stores, and the developments in marketing that now enable Sugro members to personalise marketing material and promote selected products to meet their individual trading needs. I wish Ross well and am sure that he will oversee continued success for the group.”
Gourlay founded Glencrest with his brother Fraser as a retail company, launched into wholesale in 1996 and joined Sugro in 2009.
“My aim is that Sugro continues to grow its volumes and thereby negotiating powerbase,” said Gourlay.
“Many members are looking for new markets and product ranges to increase their customer base and turnover, and it is important that the centre provides this diversification. It is strategically important to continue to develop IT services for members and provide accurate data to enhance trading performance and negotiations.”
