Sainsbury’s has unveiled a trio of new appointments to its marketing team.

It has appointed Mark Given to the newly-created role of head of brand communications. He joins from O2, where he was head of sponsorship.

Alex Owens takes up the role of head of insight. He was previously head of strategy at Lloyds Banking Group.

Sophia Weir has also been hired as category manager for advertising and media. She was previously business director at Mindshare.

All three join the supermarket chain in January.

“Mark, Alex and Sophia are great additions to the team, and will help us continue to deliver competitive advantage through efficient and integrated marketing campaigns, under the banner of Live Well for Less,” said marketing director Sarah Warby (pictured).

Warby joined as marketing director in February this year from Heineken UK, where she was also marketing director. Given also previously worked for Heineken UK.
