Procter & Gamble’ Irwin Lee is to retire this summer.

Lee has been with P&G for 30 years, spending eight as UK MD and the past year setting up and integrating its Northern Europe businesses. He will step down on 31 August.

Lee, 50, is to be succeeded by current sales director Tom Moody, who from 1 April will take the role of regional vice president and managing director for Northern Europe.

“It has been an honour to lead P&G’s growth and value creation in Asia through two decades and in UK/Ireland and Northern Europe in the past eight years,” said Lee, who guested-edited The Grocer last year. “I’ve loved every minute of working in P&G; and I loved working through all the new growth opportunities and challenges in the UK.

“I could carry on indefinitely but it is the right time to hand over the reins of P&G leadership here,” he added. “While I am not at liberty to share at this time, I am excited by my new personal plans that allow me to stay connected with my children who are preparing to go on to university in the UK.”

Succeeding Moody as new sales director is Ian Morley, currently P&G commercial director for household, health & grooming.

“Tom and Ian have worked closely with me over the past eight years,” said Lee. “So I expect the transition to be seamless.”
