Louise Stigant GroceryAid

Stigant will replace former Mondelez UK MD Mike Taylor on the charity’s trustees board.

Mondelez MD Louise Stigant has joined GroceryAid’s board of trustees.

GroceryAid, which helps people formerly or currently in the grocery industry who need additional support such as financial guidance or crisis grants, has appointed Stigant to replace former Mondelez UK MD Mike Taylor, on the charity’s trustees board.

She took over as MD of Mondelez’s UK arm in June after Taylor stepped down to pursue other opportunities, having been at Mondelez since its creation in 2011. Her fmcg career began almost 30 years ago when she joined Waitrose’s graduate scheme as part of its buying operation. Stigant moved to Kraft as category manager for desserts in 1994, managing brands such as Angel Delight, then went on to hold leadership roles before taking on various roles at Mondelez. She was MD for Ireland and commercial director for northern Europe before becoming the region’s MD of meals category with responsibility for brand marketing and innovation.

“The importance of GroceryAid’s work has never been so apparent as our industry deals with mounting pressures and even finer margins,” Stigant said. “I’m looking forward to helping the charity support even more current and former colleagues across the UK in addition to raising awareness of the great work they do.”

Stigant will also be joined on the board by Morrisons’ special projects lawyer, Helen Murray, who said the charity makes a “critical difference to the lives of so many colleagues each year”, adding that its work is now more important than ever. “It’s a privilege to be able to use my legal skills and expertise in this way, and I look forward to making a positive contribution to the continued success of the charity,” Murray said.

Ruston Smith, chair of GroceryAid trustees, added: “We are delighted to have Louise and Helen further strengthen our board of trustees. Their experience and knowledge will give further insight into the industry and I’m sure they will make a very valuable contribution to our long-term strategy of helping more colleagues in need.”
