Meg Haggar

Meg Haggar, founder, Raw Halo, on positivity, Sofia Coppola and her sense of direction

What was your first-ever job? I worked at my local M&S Food Hall, juggling busy checkouts and keeping customers happy.

What’s been your worst job interview? Having worked in HR I have more experience of sitting across the interview table. A particularly bad one was catching a candidate trying to cheat on their reasoning tests by switching their results with another candidate’s.

What was the first music single you bought? This is embarrassing… Barbie Girl by Aqua.

How do you describe your job to your mates? An endless to-do list of all things chocolate.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job? Seeing customers buying our chocolate.

What’s the least rewarding part? That would’ve certainly been the process of chocolate making. I’m much more suited to working at a laptop than a tempering machine.

What’s your motto? Positivity and persistence conquer all things.

What’s your nickname? I get called Piglet around the office due to the amount of chocolate I eat.

What animal best reflects your personality? A dolphin because of my happy and very curious, inquisitive nature.

If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? A weekly trolley dash in Whole Foods Market. I love so many of the brands they stock.

What’s your favourite movie? Somewhere, directed by Sofia Coppola. It reminds me what’s important in life.

What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Driving my friends on a day-trip gone wrong for around three hours in the wrong direction.

Do you have any phobias? I’m terrified of spiders. I regularly have nightmares about them.

If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be? Why? Gwyneth Paltrow. I know she holds many of the same values as we do, and we’d certainly benefit from her millions of social media followers.

If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? While we’re seeing a big shift in consumer purchasing towards healthier and premium products, I’d love to speed that up.

What luxury would you have on your desert island? A never-ending supply of our Pure Dark chocolate bars.
