Turton

Channel Islands retailer Alliance Stores has appointed leading convenience and wholesale expert Neil Turton as a non-executive director.

Turton has over 35 years of experience in the wholesale and retail sector and has worked in a number of senior roles.

He previously held the position of CEO at Nisa Retail for seven years and spent 24 years on total at the group, and was a chair of the ACS, where he represented over 35,000 stores.

Turton joins Alliance, which operates five stores and has supply agreements with Waitrose and Musgrave, after having recently left his role as MD of confectionery and impulse buying group Sugro UK.

“I am delighted to welcome Neil Turton as a non-executive director,” said Alliance MD Andrew Bagot. “Neil is a highly talented strategic business leader whose broad experience in the food retail industry will bring fresh perspective to the company, helping us to further develop and diversify our pan-island business.”

Turton said: “Being a non-executive director can mean many things. In this case, it’s about working with Andrew and his executive team to make sure we have the right industry visibility, profile, networks, supplier relationships, external partnerships and innovation.

“We will be working hard to ensure that, faced with rising costs of living on the Channel Islands like everywhere else, we offer the best proposition to our customers in both Jersey and Guernsey and develop a future-proof strategy.”
