Mark Phillips has been appointed sales and marketing director of organic juice brand Grove Fresh.

He will be responsible for raising consumer awareness of the Grove Fresh brand, part of the Wellness Foods Group, which this week acquired Dorset Cereals. His appointment marks the start of a programme of increased consumer activity on the benefits of buying organic.

"It's an exciting time for the organic category," said Phillips. "The age profile is tumbling as more younger, urban professionals appreciate the benefits that come from organic products. We are confident organics will continue to enjoy double-digit value growth."

Phillips has worked in the food industry since 1985. After three years in production with Northern Foods he moved to RHM. He then spent eight years with Dairy Crest/Unigate before moving to Orchard House, a division of Wellness Foods, in 2004.
