The Grocer has appointed Julia Glotz as managing editor following the departure of deputy editor Liz Hamson this week.

Previously fresh foods editor - and most recently buying & supplying editor - Glotz will be responsible for the day-to-day running of The Grocer, and will also be in charge of the Comment & Opinion section.

Fmcg editor Vince Bamford is promoted to buying & supplying editor, with oversight of The Grocer’s products coverage across ambient, fresh and frozen. Senior reporter Kevin White is the day-to-day contact for fresh foods news.

Hamson is leaving after 11 years to become editor of Property Week. Adam Leyland, editor of The Grocer, said: “Liz has had a massive influence on the development of The Grocer and its award-winning team. We are hugely indebted to her and will miss her passion, painstaking attention to detail and brilliance.

“The good news is The Grocer has a proven and hugely capable managing editor to fill the gap.”
