Ornua is on the hunt for a fresh batch of graduates to join the latest intake of its graduate training programme.

The Irish dairy co-op is looking for 14 international graduates to join the third round of its 18-month long scheme, which launched in 2015. It is providing opportunities across the business with IT, sales and marketing, HR and supply chain management roles on offer. Applications close on 19 October for a September 2018 start.

Successful applicants will be individually mentored by a member of Ornua’s senior management team. Participants will undertake two placements as part of the programme, with the option to travel abroad for many. They will also receive formal training from the Irish Institute of Management.

“This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to experience life in a global business, working and living in a new environment,” said Majella Darcy, group HR director at Ornua.

“We provide ‘best in class’ development, particularly when it comes to providing support, skills, and experience. In return, we expect graduates to perform to a high standard.”

The Kerrygold and Pilgrims Choice owner said it was seeking candidates from all backgrounds with a minimum 2:1 degree, but would also consider outstanding applicants who did not meet the usual criteria.

“Academic ability is important to us but it’s not the be-all and end-all. Finding great talent who are the right cultural fit for our organisation with the right attitude is also really important. Ornua is a team and we are looking for great people to join that team,” Darcy added.

The programme was described as “very rewarding” by graduate trainee Cait Mennis, who joined Ornua in 2016.

“I saw the Ornua graduate programme as a great opportunity to work closely with mentors, managers and people from many different skill sets and who had vast industry experience,” said Mennis. “That level of exposure to industry expertise is rare in other entry-level jobs. Having the chance to learn from and be guided by these people on a day-to-day basis is invaluable.”
