Glasshouse producer Valley Grown Salads has established a partnership with Egyptian exporter Nile Valley Group, which will supply VGS with peppers for UK supermarkets.
VGS will also provide expertise to help Nile Valley Group develop Egypt’s expanding fresh produce industry, which is also being boosted by a US aid programme.
Egypt’s strawberry season, which used to run from November to February, now runs from November until May. Total export volumes for strawberries have doubled to 8,000 tonnes in the past five years.
