Aside from Nestlé, the biggest story instore is Persil which has been threatening to enter the chart for some weeks but now leaps straight in at number two. A combination of price promotions and extra-fill offers has given Persil a boost up the chart with feature displays on gondola ends. Elsewhere in the chart McVitie’s and Stella Artois constitute the only other new entries with McVitie’s in at number six and Stella Artois at 10.
Though Stella supports the alcoholic drinks category, which this week moves back up to the top of the category chart, the success of the category is based on its wide range of promotions.
There continues to be a large number of promotions on beers and lagers accompanied by a bigger than normal glut of offers on wines.
