Leading French wine brand Piat is fighting back against incursions from the New World with the launch of two new varietals. In the last decade its share of the UK market has been eroded by varietal-led ranges from Australia, California and South Africa. However, brand owner Percy Fox is turning the tables by introducing its own varietal styles. The Chardonnay and Merlot/Syrah, both vins de pays d'Oc, went on display at the wine and spirits fair this week. Marketing manager Emma Chamberlain said: "With named grapes and unpretentious product information under one brand we hope to make buying French easier." {{DRINKS }}
