Recent launches point to the increased demand for fresh prepared vegetables.
Both Asda and Marks and Spencer have brought out new products, fuelling industry speculation that the sector may have similar potential to the bagged salad industry, which has seen an explosion in growth in recent years. Asda has launched a new 250g winter vegetable pack of sprouts, calabrese and cauliflower florettes for 94p.
At the other end of the price scale, Marks and Spencer has a 600g selection of roasting vegetables.
These include shallots, beetroot, a sweet potato, parsnips and carrots for £2.99.
