Sir, With regards to the Defra round table debate on 5-a-day (The Grocer, 8 August), many people in deprived areas lack access to NHS dentists. People with bad teeth are far less likely to eat fresh fruit & veg simply because of the risk of dislodging old fillings or losing already wobbly teeth. As Orwell wrote, people with limited budgets are far less likely to eat nutritious food because "the less money you have, the less inclined you feel to spend it on wholesome food" or dentistry, perhaps.
