A Scottish meat company is branching out into bacon and targeting the high end market.
Following its recent purchase of cured meat producer Highland Country Foods, Scotch Premier, part of the ANM processing group, has launched both a bacon and a ham product.
Raymond Wight, managing director of Scotch Premier, said the Ayrshire dry cured bacon and ham range was designed to offer a traditional choice to consumers.
“We’re looking to get listings at high quality butchers, independent traders and delicatessens.”
The company would also be targeting the foodservice sector, he said. “We wanted to do more with our pork and the purchase of Highland Country Foods gave us that opportunity.”
