Carlsberg has warned that further price hikes are ahead due to the rising price of malt and barley.

“Looking forward, we will be impacted by rising input costs and will therefore have to increase sales prices,” chief executive Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen said in a statement.

The warning came as Carlsberg yesterday unveiled a rise in third-quarter profits of 30% to DKK1.95bn (£225m).

UK volumes for the nine months to 30 September were up by around 5%.

Carlsberg said that although the UK market as a whole had declined, the company had grown its market share in both volume and value terms.
