Both spirits brands monitored in our seasonal Price Watch managed to maintain their prices over the Christmas and New Year weeks. Bell’s whisky and cream liqueur Baileys stayed at a healthy price for three consecutive weeks, with both retailing at an average of £1.30 per 100ml. Wine brand Hardys Stamp fell to 54p per 100ml over Christmas before posting a slight recovery last week to 58p. This brand has seen most of the discounting action this year, suggesting wine has taken over from spirits as the retailer’s favourite festive footfall driver.
