PZ Cussons has reported a 7% increase in full-year pre-tax profit to £68.3m on sales also up 7% at £577.9m.

The consumer goods company, which manufactures products including Imperial Leather, Original Source and Charles Worthington, said trading had been boosted by strong performances in the UK and Nigeria.

In the UK, performance had exceeded expectations due to a successful programme of brand renovations across its portfolio.

The sale of its manufacturing sites in Manchester and Ellesmere Port were at an advanced stage and construction had started on a new £26m plant in Manchester.

“2007 has been another year of considerable progress for PZ Cussons,” said chairman Anthony Green. “Our focus remains on growth and margin improvement in selected markets.”
