With a massive 199 offers, confectionery easily beat wine’s 166 deals into second place with Easter still nearly six weeks away.
Cadbury was the most-promoted brand with a total of 60 deals, but Nestlé was not far behind on 50. Mars trailed a distant third with 29 promotions. Tesco was the retailer with by far the most confectionery bargains, at 97.
This week’s 199 confectionery deals usually retail at a total of £641.70, but anyone choosing to break the first week of Lent in style could do so for just £477.57, at a saving of 26%.
Other categories on the up this week included cooking ingredients, which rocketed in at 31st from 54th last week. Bread also shot up the table, from 44th to 24th place, while fresh pasta re-entered the top 50 in 41st place, up from 61st last week.
The best offer in the table this week was Asda’s 2-for-£1 deal on Knorr Ragu sauces, which represented a 60.3% saving. The biggest cash discount of £13.94 could be snapped up on Asda’s 3-for-£10 wine deal.
However, Sainsbury's was the retailer offering the most top 50 deals and the biggest savings this week. Its 12 promotions offered a total saving of £31.63.
Buying all 50 of this week’s top deals would cost £150.19, saving £130.58 on the rsp of £280.77.
