Major damage caused by a fire at the offices of the British Retail Consortium has forced the organisation to move to a temporary home while repair work is carried out.

The blaze in the basement of the Westminster HQ on Friday caused major damage to phone systems and electrical equipment, although fire crews were able to save the building.

BRC director general Stephen Robertson told the Grocer: “It has been pretty chaotic but we have this back up and running from temporary offices and, as much possible, it’s business as usual.”
