A new online service has been launched to help struggling town centres.

The Association of Town Centre Management is behind the website, 100 Ways to Help the High Street.

Timed to coincide with the second phase of the so-called Portas Pilot handouts, the site is backed by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills. It offers a collection of tools, case studies and suggestions to help businesses, town planners and members of the public.

“This is a response to the rise in vacancies caused by the recession and depressed consumer spending and will become a valuable first port of call for high street regeneration,” said ATCM chief executive Martin Blackwell.

“We hope 100 Ways will provide valuable first-hand experiences from a variety of sources. It is an evolving project that will grow and expand, showcasing new examples of best practice in town centre management for years to come.”
