Supermarkets are expanding their sparkling wine offers following the boom in prosecco.

Sainsbury’s is launching an own-label Australian sémillon brut in mid-June under its mid-tier Winemaker Selection brand (rsp: £7).

It is also launching a Winemaker Selection prosecco and expanding its range of lower-abv sparkling wine with a 7% abv moscato (rsp: £6.50) and two 4% abv wine cocktails.

Waitrose has increased its range of exclusive proseccos and launched sparkling wines from its Hampshire vineyard. The Leckford Estate Brut 2011 is available in 27 stores and online (rsp: £29.99). And The Co-op Group is launching its first Truly Irresistible cava (rsp: £5).
