Harvesting of organic potatoes has progressed well, according to the British Potato Council.
Organic supplies are said to be plentiful and quality good, which means the UK trading season could go on longer than expected. The mood among producers is buoyant, with one grower saying: “Skin finish is unusually good this year.”
The BPC said a wide range of organic varieties were being offered by growers, who are reporting increased demand.
Meanwhile, the BPC reported that the UK harvest is now almost over, with 99.6% cleared by November 4.
This compared with 94% at the same time last year.
