PZ Cussons has snapped up premium hair care brand Fudge for £25.5m from Australia’s Sabre Group.

Established in 1991, Fudge is sold predominantly through salons in the UK, Australia and New Zealand and is best known for its styling range. It notched up revenues of £15.7m for the year to 30 June 2011, with around half of its sales coming in Europe and the UK.

Fudge will join a growing portfolio of brands within PZ Cussons’ Beauty division alongside St Tropez, Sanctuary and Charles Worthington.

The deal is expected to complete by the end of this month following certain regulatory obligations.

“The geographic and distribution footprint of Fudge is a perfect fit with the current brand portfolio and we see further opportunity to develop the brand’s international potential,” said PZ Cussons chief executive Alex Kanellis.
