South African growers are introducing QR codes onto fruit packs this winter, to enable shoppers to access information about produce from the country via their smartphones.

The codes will feature on in-pack leaflets during the season for South African plums, peaches and nectarines as well as apples and pears. They will be rolled out from December.

Shoppers who scan the codes will be directed to a website with information about South Africa and its produce. Shoppers can also win a trip to South Africa as well as beauty products.
