There wasn't a lot to choose from between four of the products in this week's taste test, but Morrisons (four stars) nudged ahead with a light and fluffy muffin.

It had the strongest blueberry flavour and, although a disturbingly vivid shade of blue inside, also offered juicy whole blueberries.

Asda's, Sainsbury's and Tesco's (all three stars) muffins were similar, although Sainsbury's had the best texture, Asda's was over-sweet and Tesco's had an artificial aftertaste. None of them tasted particularly of blueberry.

Waitrose's (one star) product was totally different from the others, however, being smaller and more like a sponge fairy cake than a muffin. The overwhelming flavour was of vanilla rather than blueberry.
