Heinz is introducing new recipes to its core soup portfolio. A raft of new varieties are poised to hit shelves in August under the soup giant's Classic, Big Soup and WeightWatchers from Heinz (WWfH) banners.

Heinz will also be adding a 515g serving to its the Big Soup range to target consumers looking for a more substantial meal, while a 400g option is being added to the WWfH stable.

The NPD marks the second phase of Heinz's plans for its soups this year. The company invested £7m in an initial round of development over the first half of the year.

"This year will be ground- breaking for Heinz Soup," said Matthew Cullum, marketing manager.

"We will be branching into new categories and we are gearing up to unveil a raft of exciting new products that will take the market from strength to strength."

Further developments to the range are expected to be announced at the end of the month.
