Poultry and ingredients supplier Rectory Foods has moved into red meat after agreeing a tie-up with meat traders Acura Foods.

The deal, which will be officially announced next month, will see 50 fresh and frozen pork and beef products added to Rectory's portfolio of poultry, vegetables and food ingredients. A new Rectory red meat division which will target sales in retail, foodservice, wholesale and manufacturing markets in the UK, Far East and Africa will be established under Acura MD David Eaton.

"We are planning further growth in 2010 and beyond as we take on more staff and increase our customer base. This development is a great platform for us to build on," said Rectory director Charles Woolley.

Rectory would invest in NPD, new equipment and new departments over the coming year on the back of 18% sales growth to £26m last year, he added.
