Asda is claiming an industry first by launching resealable and recyclable packaging for its entire Extra Special cooked meats range. The new packaging, which will feature on the four million packs of British meat sold in the range, will also weigh 25% less than it did previously. The packaging was developed by Asda and supplier Parkham Foods. The majority of the new packaging, with the exception of the film sleeve covering the top, will be recyclable, the retailer said. However, the cost of the products would not be affected, Asda stressed.
