The first batch of Bluetongue vaccines has now been made available to dairy and livestock farmers.

The first one million doses were released last week, with a further two million doses set to follow shortly afterwards. "Intervet has been able to provide vaccine more quickly than was initially thought and we are very grateful for its efforts, which have resulted in this early delivery date," said the Joint Action against Bluetongue (JAB) group in a statement.

"It means vaccination can begin immediately in the current Protection Zone and then move on very quickly to the remainder of the second priority area as set out in the vaccination roll-out plan."
