French spirits group Rémy Cointreau said third quarter sales rose 8.6% due to the strong performance of its champagne and vodka divisions.

Turnover for the nine months to December 31 was up 1.2% to 799m euros from 789m euros last year.

Champagne sales rose 24% in the first nine months to 111.3m euros. Liqueur sales under the Bols rose 9.2% to 142.3m euros, while cognac was up 1.5% to 304.5m euros

Sales of its Scotch whisky and Italian wines rose 4.2% to 111.5m euros with excellent growth in the US, the company said.

Rémy said January orders for champagne indicated a strong year end.
