Lancashire cheese producer Dewlay has unveiled plans to be the first UK cheesemaker to be powered by renewable energy.

Dewlay will start installing a 126m-high wind turbine at its Garstang site this month, which will cut emissions by 2,260 tonnes per year by October.

"We see this as just another step on our journey to reduce our carbon footprint and become more sustainable," said operational director Nick Kenyon. Dewlay makes cheese for Asda, Booths, Waitrose and Sainsbury's.
