The government's response to the Milk Task Force report failed to help dairy producers, according to Safeway communications director Kevin Hawkins. Hawkins  a member of the Milk Task Force  said: "Where are we now? Not a great deal further forward. Farmers are still facing a decline in milk price corresponding to oversupply. I don't think the Milk Report is going to go anywhere." The report examined ways of improving supply chain efficiency within the dairy industry and was published in January. But food and farming minister Lord Whitty said: "Government is keen to play its part in taking forward the work of the Milk Task Force." {{NEWS }}
