There is definitely an argument for discussing how retailers should mark Remembrance Sunday.

Asking employees and customers in a store to stop what they are doing and observe one minutes silence will not be sufficient for everyone.

Given the only restriction on Sunday trading is for a store to be open for no more than 6 hours between the hours of 10am and 6pm it would be possible for all retailers to move their hours on Remembrance Sunday.

Stores could still open for the full 6 hours of Sunday trading between 12pm and 6pm allowing those who wish to attend services at 11am to do so
