Pilgrim's choice

Pilgrims Choice owner Adams Foods has reported a fall in pre-tax profits of almost 30% for the 12 months to 27 December 2014.

The subsidiary of Irish farmer co-op Ornua saw profit fall from £2.3m in 2013 to £1.6m last year, in part due to a £903,000 exceptional item cost and rises in payroll and bank interest payments.

Sales rose from £369m to £397m, and despite a “highly competitive and changing market”, directors said it had performed in line with expectations.
