Concha y Toro sales have passed $1bn for the first time thanks to a 22.6% hike.

The Chilean wine producer announced in its results for 2014 that it had sold 33.2 million cases of wine, helping push sales up to $1.02bn.

In the UK, the company sold 6.5 million cases – an increase of 16.9% on 2013. A quarter of these were of flagship brand Casillero del Diablo, which has entered the UK’s top ten wine brandswith sales up 40.7% to £85.4m [IRI 52 w/e 31 January 2015]. Casillero del Diablo shipped 4.4 million cases worldwide.

Concha y Toro said its results were largely due to the strengthening of its overseas subsidiaries, which allowed it to be “closer to consumers in each market, understanding their needs and requirements, positioning its brands and creating value in different product categories”.

“We’re pleased with the progress and success we’ve had since the launch of our new strategy almost 18 months ago,” said Concha y Toro Uk general mnanager Simon Doyle. “However, clear opportunities for further development mean we remain focused on building our brands to lead further sustainable growth within the UK market.”
