Can maker Rexam has said that it will raise its prices in order to offset the rising cost of aluminium.

The company spent £1m on metal last year, making aluminium cans for companies including Cadbury Schweppes, Carlsberg, Heineken, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola.

Lars Emilson, chief executive of Rexam, said: “It is our intention to reflect the aluminium price prevailing at that time in our pricing structures.”
