Uncle Ben's is moving into the low fat snacking market with the launch of Rispinos mini rice snacks. Aimed at 18 to 35 year old women, they are low calorie, low fat and wheat and gluten free and come in three flavours: chocolate, caramel and apple & cinnamon. Mars (which owns Uncle Ben's) said it expects Rispinos to mirror its European success in the UK and recommends that retailers site Rispinos beside other low fat crispbreads, biscuits and cakes. The launch will be backed by a £3m marketing campaign that includes TV and press advertising as well as a sampling programme. The usual rsp for a 60g bag is 59p but a trial 27g bag will sell for 27p. The low fat food market is worth £1.1bn [Mintel]. {{P&P }}
