The Red Meat Industry Forum has launched an international benchmarking project. RMIF analysts will calculate beef, pork and sheepmeat production costs in 12 countries.
General manager Martin Grantley-Smith said: “The RMIF is seeking to improve the competitiveness of the British red meat industry. We can gain valuable insights into the world market while at the same time widening our understanding of global costs.”
The project will be completed later this year. It will examine costs in Brazil, Argentina, Canada, the US, Spain, Denmark, Holland, Germany, France, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
