HRH The Prince of Wales is calling on the food chain to encourage sustainable fishing.
The Prince reaffirmed his support for sustainable fisheries by attending a celebration this week in honour of the Marine Stewardship Council.
Other celebrities attending the celebration of sustainable wild seafood at Old Billingsgate Market included celebrity chefs Sophie Grigson and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.
At the Sea into the Future Gala, the Prince called upon guests including seafood processors, retailers, restaurant chains and public figures from the media, politics and the arts
to give more support to the work of the MSC. The Prince uses MSC-labelled seafood in his own Duchy Selections range, in a Cornish Mackerel and Gooseberry Preserve Pate.
The Prince said: “In addition to good science and good regulation, we need a system that harnesses the power of the consumer and provides economic incentives to well-managed wild fisheries.”
