SABMiller has reported a 22% increase in half-year pre-tax profit to 30 September of $1.378bn, on sales up 33% at $9.344bn.

Underlying beer volumes rose 9%, with strong growth in Europe, Asia and Africa, but slower sales in its domestic market South Africa, the brewer said.

“The combination of strong volume growth together with good earnings contributions from around the group supports our confidence for the future,” said chief executive Graham Mackay.
